May your life brighten up like the diyas in the Diwali celebration and keep all darkness away from your life.
Diwali brings so much happiness into our lives- we dress up, spend time with family, celebrate and fill the house with colors and lights. With regards to Diwali fashion, it’s a custom to buy new clothes and since the time I have moved to the US, it’s very hard to find good Indian clothes. One of my issues with shopping for Indian wear here is less or no customization. Mostly, it’s like ‘one size fits all’ clothes which can be altered and sometimes the outfits lose their shape with too much alteration.
I recently came across this website Kyra and Vir, they have an amazing collection and every outfit can be customized according to your size and height. It also gives you options to choose different colors in the same outfit. If that wasn’t enough for you, they have a team especially to help you design your outfit from scratch. They usually take a month to get your outfit ready when you add customization to it. I needed this beautiful blue Bandhni Kurta with pom poms for Diwali party and I put in a request for faster delivery and I did receive my outfit in two weeks. I was impressed with the quality of the product and the service. Because there’s so much customization involved, the outfits are on a bit pricier side. I kept the bottom simple with black leggings and a black pair of heels.
This lehenga choli has got to be my favorite of all as I picked the fabric and the design myself and had it customized from an Indian tailor while I was in India last year. It is glam and chic at the same time – perfect for your best friends’ wedding or even a cocktail party. I love the gold mirrored detail on the fabric and you don’t need much to accessorize this outfit. I wore similar looking bangles that I got from my hometown, Jalandhar as well.
The below outfits are from a beautiful collection of my friend Shyla Abbimutt. I love both the outfits as they are effortless to style and the colors are gorgeous.
For the first outfit, I styled this orange spaghetti chiffon top with bubblegum pink cape dupatta and gold border. This combination comes with gold shimmer dhoti pants but I kept the look minimalistic by wearing it with White Jeans.
The second outfit is this striking brocade green color Kurti with Navy colored Dhoti pants. This is perfect for special occasions like sangeet or any other wedding parties you have. The colors on this outfit are just stunning. She also has a beautiful collection of Lehengas, check it out here.
I loved styling all of these outfits for you guys. Tell me in the comments below which one is your favorite.
