Spring Series 101 : Declutter & Re-style

“Spring brings new growth; weed out the bad and make room for something beautiful.”

We are getting snow showers/storms every week in Boston and in the hope of spring, we have started the process of spring cleaning our home. In the next couple of months, I will be working on small fashion projects inspired by the quote above – Declutter and Re-style.

The whole concept behind de-cluttering is to remove the things that are not useful in your life anymore. Things to de-clutter in your life could be as small as your emails & desktop and as big as your closet and bedroom. I am targeting a new area at home every day to de-clutter. The easiest way to do that is use those items before you buy new stuff and see if they still work for you. I decided to do a re-styling series on my blog where I will recreate looks from the old pieces of clothing or shoes or bags I own.

In this post, I am re-styling my red ankle boots, red bag and black wool coat and the black dress. Last time I styled most of these items with jeans. Here is a side to side comparison. I love how most of the items are common and yet, both the looks are different from each other.

Boohoo Off the shoulder Skater Dress

I bought this dress long ago but was saving it for some special occasion. I got such a good deal on it and it is very flattering on your body. I wore it on a Christmas Party we hosted. It is under $15 and comes in a few different colors. Boohoo is based in the UK and has various global retailers/brands.

Boohoo Blush Pink Waterfall Coat

This is one of my favorite overcoats I own. The color is beautiful and I received many compliments on this one. A lot of my friends enquired about it so I recently did a detailed post about this product. Here’s the link.

Why I have been away // OOTD

Happy New Year everyone!!

I hope you all had a great time with family and friends. I sure did! I have been away from social media for about a month now and haven’t posted a blog in a while. After taking a break for sometime and reflecting on the past year, I decided to come back and start blogging again.

I love blogging when it’s stress-free but over the past few months, it became overwhelming for me. I was trying to catch up with established bloggers or new bloggers who were growing very fast. I couldn’t move up the ladder as quickly as others because it involved more than just time, commitment, and money for me. I made a lot of great memories in the past two months, traveled places and I unplugged for most of the time. I do have a few travel stories to share with you all in the next few weeks. For today I just wanted to sit with you and share my first post of the year.

OOTD: Street Style

”Look deep into nature and you will understand everything better”

I love being amidst nature and exploring new places in and around Boston. I discovered another jewel recently, Arnold Arboretum of Harvard. It is a botanical garden devoted to trees. Away from the city and the noise, this place is very peaceful & beautiful, especially in this season. I planned to meet a friend there but I arrived early and took a walk just by myself. It was so quiet out there that I could hear the rustling of leaves. There is still time to observe a spectacular display of fall foliage and a myriad of beautiful fruits and berries.

10 things to do in MA this fall season

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.

I come from a country where there are only two seasons – summer and winter. So being in the US, especially, living in Boston has brought many more colors to my life, like literally. I am so excited about all things fall. I am listing down 10 things everyone should do this fall.

Living Room Decor – Mixed Media Gallery Wall

I spent last week de-cluttering my apartment and getting it ready for the fall. I didn’t expect it to take so long – I took out all the summer clothes and sorted into 3 piles – Donate, Keep for next summer and summer to fall transition pieces. It really helped sort things out and make some extra space for beautiful fall clothes. While I was at it, I also got inspired to finally decorate our living room wall. It has been a blank canvas for a while and I wanted to give it a personal touch. I decided to do a mix-media gallery wall because I couldn’t settle on one thing. I got all the accent pieces from different stores.

Intimate Wear Hacks!

Hello Loves,

Let’s get up close and personal today!

Yes, this is the kind of post I always love to read and I am sure it will help you guys as well. Summer has almost come to an end but these hacks will work all year long; whether you’re planning a big warm vacation in winters or planning for a special New Year Eve Party.

My all-time favorite bra is a Strapless Multi Way Bra from Target and Multi way Bra from Victoria’s secret. I have them in nude and black and they work with most strapless, one shoulder, off the shoulder dresses & tops and provide good support. Tip: Buy a strapless bra one cup smaller; so if you’re 34b, go for 34a and so on. It will sit tighter on you and you wouldn’t have to keep pulling it up.

Revere Beach Sand Sculpting Festival

Life is better at the beach especially when it’s combined with art. This past weekend, for the first time I witnessed the most amazing art at the Annual International Sand Sculpting Festival at Revere Beach. From Spectacular art, music concerts, food trucks, giant wheel, to extravagant Fireworks, there’s something for everyone. The area where the competition is held gets a little crowded but the beach is huge enough to unwind afterward. If you missed the free event this year, you can find all the information at this website to plan for the next year. The beach has street parking and is easily reachable by the T. Below are some of my favorites Sand sculptures that I witnessed on that day.

About the outfit – This beautiful dress with sunset colors is from Zara and has a very relaxed fit. It’s a midi dress and for me it sits a little lower. The fabric is very soft and comfortable on the skin as well. It’s under $30 and I got it in size XS. It’s currently ‘sold out’ but I have linked similar options for your style.
