Ombre Dye Maxi Dress

Hello Loves! I have been having a wonderful time enjoying the long summer days. When it comes to styling outfits for summer, I love the good old maxi dresses. You cannot have enough of them in your closet for summer because they are perfect for picnics, beach outings, and even weddings. I recently bought this Blue maxi dress featuring an ombre dye wash, strapless cut, high neck, drawstring keyhole back, and an M-slit skirt. The fabric is very basic and soft. If you pair this dress with red sandals, it will make for a flawless outfit for 4th of July weekend. I wore this dress on our day trip to Martha’s Vineyard; it was comfortable and complemented the vibe of the Island.

Spring/Summer Trend 2017 – Stripes

This spring, Stripes are seen everywhere. It comes in different variations; nautical, 70s and Technicolor. It was a common theme on 2017 runways. I didn’t go really crazy with colors and variations. I like them simple but I have listed some of the others for ideas.

Here’s how I styled some of my favorite stripes:

  1. Striped Jumpsuit
  2. I have been adoring the Primark’s new collection for Spring/Summer 2017. This jumpsuit in particular is a steal, it has two variations of stripes – diagonal and vertical.  I also love the colors – Blush Pink and navy blue. The Fabric has this woolen feel, but it’s actually for warmer weather.
  3. Outfit details –
  4. Navy Pink Striped Jumpsuit – Here

2.Stripes in a Shirt Dress

  1. This is by far my favorite stripe styling because it’s so versatile. This shirt dress can be styled many ways. I would be doing a separate post on this one.
  2. Shirt Dress –
  1. 3. Classic Stripes

This is the simplest yet classy outfit, I got this one from Primark as well. It doesn’t take much time to decide on buying              a dress like that. It will be perfect for summer to just put on when you don’t know what to wear.

Las Vegas – Outfits of the week

I just spent a fun and warm week in Vegas, just strolling at the Las Vegas strip, exploring so many different themed casinos, pool parties and what not. It’s so fascinating that a desert area is converted into the entertainment capital of the world. I can do a separate post about “travel” part of Vegas but this post is exclusive to Fashion and styling ideas. I wanted to share the outfits I wore while I was there.

Outfit 1- The classic airport look

This is my go-to airport look, and it doesn’t take any effort to pull this off. You just need a comfy top and leggings – just basics from your existing wardrobe. I usually carry a jacket with me because I feel cold in the plane and it works for the colder evenings. Don’t forget walking shoes- it is a must for the trip.

Leather Jacket – I bought this Jacket last fall and loving it ever since. It’s from Urban Outfitters (Sold out, similar – Here).

Slouchy white top – The top is from Primark, just something I picked up recently. You cannot have too many white tops.

Pants/leggings– My pants/leggings are from Zara (Here), I have had them since 4 years now and they are not worn off yet. I love the thickness of the leggings/pants and they are very much comfortable.

Shoes– I bought them from DSW because it’s one stop shop for shoes. But you can also buy them online from the Converse website. Converse (Here)

Outfit 2 – Strolling around the strip and casinos

This outfit was my favorite from the trip. I loved everything about it – The feel of this fabric, it was airy, off the shoulder, and perfect spring Marigold color. I also experimented it with wearing a corset belt and it just changed the whole look of it. I loved how it looked.

Yellow Off the shoulder Swing Dress – I picked this dress up in the store, honestly I wasn’t sure at first but when I tried it on, I couldn’t let it go.  It’s from forever 21- Here

Wide elastic corset Belt – I ordered this Asos (Here ) belt online just before this trip, I was really excited to style this. I love how it cinches your waist. It does get uncomfortable if you wear it for long.

Backpack – Kate Spade (Sold out, Similar Here )

Yellow thong sandals – Bought these from Primark Here. Just to add to my wardrobe and it matched perfectly with the dress.

Outfit 3 – Most fun outfit- very summery

Top – I bought this really cute, Pineapple print, scoop neck crop top from Primark. They had so many colors and different prints in them. It was very comfortable. I can’t find them on Primark website but it’s available in stores. Similar (here).

Shorts – These shorts are from Primark too, these are distressed denim high-waist shorts. Again, I can’t find them on the website but these are available in stores. Similar linked (Here)

Outfit 4 – Watching a show at Bellagio – Cirque du Soleil

Maxi Dress – I have been wanting to buy something from “Who what wear” collection at Target stores. I finally found this casual and classy Knit Skater Maxi Dress (Here). I styled them with red pumps and wore it to the show at Bellagio in the night. It was perfect for the occasion.

Red suede pumps – I adore these pumps from Charlotte Russe, sold out (similar Here). I bought them for Valentine’s Day but they work great all year round.

Outfit 5 – Heading to pool party

Navy shift dress– The attire for pool party was Swim wear only, I forgot to carry my cover-up for Bikini so I just wore this shift dress from Charlotte Russe, Sold out – Similar (Here, Here). It was nice and flowy. But it does make a cool summer outfit for a casual day.

Straw Hat – Now this was also a special purchase for me, I so wanted to buy a straw hat with some slogan on it. I found just perfect Hat before my trip. It says “Vacay”, how cool is that! It is from Asos – sold out (Here , similar Here )

Navy shift dress- Charlotte Russe, Sold out – Similar (Here, Here)

Straw Hat – Asos – sold out (Here , similar Here )

Outfit 6 –  Exploring the place

Bardot Top – I recently bought a lot of crop tops from Primark, they were all priced from $4-$6. Yes, it’s hard to believe. The quality is average but everything is really trendy. I couldn’t find this print online but   similar options are here.

High Waist shorts – These shorts are from Primark too, everything at Primark is priced low. They are distressed denim high-waist shorts. Again, I can’t find them on the website but these are available in stores. Similar linked (Here)

Outfit 7 – Post pool party outfit

Scoop neck Red crop top – This one is similar to the one above in Pineapple print. It’s from Primark and I love the pop of color.

Denim skirt– This frayed denim skirt was a steal because I bought this in winter sale and it costed me only $7. It’s from H&M and I love the fit of it.  This was is sold out but similar Here.

Outfit 8 – Classic stripes

Black striped cami dress – This is the most casual and comfortable outfit for warmer weather. I wore this the day we arrived in Vegas after a 7 hour flight. This one is from Primark and I have already worn this thrice since then.

Thanks for reading my post. :))

Spring/Summer Trends 2017

Trends come and go but trendy doesn’t mean stylish. Not all the trends will please your personality or style. I personally don’t adopt each trend and I like to develop my own style that transcends many seasons. It doesn’t mean you should not follow new trends. Each year I pick a new trend or two and personalize it according to my style preferences. I have been following New York Fashion Week (NYFW), Paris Fashion Week (PFW) and have seen below trends for this season. Also, I have listed a few websites I like to shop from.

Head to toe florals

Warmer weather, blooming flowers, flip flops and green grass – Florals are probably my favorite for spring & summer. It is something that really works for me. Here are some of my favorites for floral collection –

Ruffles, Frills and Bell Sleeves

This is the most hyped trend of the season- many of my favorite fashion bloggers are already taking this trend to another level. I am not sure how it would suit my personality but I am thinking to give it a try.

Big Bold Stripes

It may look less appealing at first but I already have styled one outfit with big bold stripes, I really liked it. I will be exploring more of this trend in spring. Here are some of the options –

Denim everything

Denim is still going strong from last summer, but now it is available in prints, soft denim, overalls, with patches, embroidery and gems as well. I do have some pieces from last year which I will be restyling. Options:-

Khaki

Yes, it’s back but with a modern twist. I remember seeing khaki pants in the last decade. I like the new look of it, especially as a jacket or a dress. There are Khaki jumpsuits and shorts, skirts in the market too. Here are a few options –

Gingham

We saw a glimpse of this print last year but it has made its way back in this year. I do have a crop top I bought in this print last year but I am seeing a lot of gingham dresses, tops online. Here are some of the options to shop from:

Color Block

I don’t have anything in my wardrobe with color block design. I will definitely be trying this new trend and see if it works for me. Here are some options to shop from:

Peace,

Richa

Disclaimer: Opinions and views expressed above are all my own and I am not getting paid from any of the websites. These are just some of my favorite brands and websites to shop from.

Indo Western Fusion

Hello and Namaste 🙂

Someone once told me that Indian women look more striking and elegant in Indian wear like sarees, suits and lehengas than in western wear. I didn’t agree much at the time but now I would and the reason would be that we are most comfortable and confident in our ethnicity and culture. Since confidence is the key to look beautiful, I would say we Indian women do look the best in the Indian wear, at least I feel this way. The beauty and glow comes from within when we are dressed in ethnic attire.

I recently visited my family in New Jersey to celebrate my niece’s 2nd bday and the theme was Indian Ethnic, hence this post. I wanted to show additional outfit options when you don’t have many Indian outfits and can do fusion of Ethnic Indian & western. My style has derived from Punjab. So I would mix and match some of the outfits that are common in Punjab.

Outfit 1 –

I am most excited about this one because I designed and stitched it myself. I spent a month in India (Punjab) last summer where I learnt how to sew and while learning, I made a few outfits myself from the scratch.

I found a light blue/turquoise fabric in floral print in the local market. We decided to make a flared skirt out of it and we call it “Lehenga” in India. I paired it with cut out shoulder crop top in hot pink made from silk fabric. Of course, you would want to dominate the Indian ethnic side and for that, wear all your jewelry and bangles to make it perfect and glittery.

Here are some of the looks:-

Outfit 2 –

An Indian girl should at least have a white and a black skirt (lehengas) in her wardrobe. I bought a black raw silk skirt recently from India and it is so versatile that you can wear a heavy embroidery blouse or a plain crop top to dress it up or down depending on the occasion. I paired it with a halter neck crop top from forever 21 and wore some silver antique jewelry with it to keep it simple.

Outfit pictures –

If you would like to know how I choose my fabrics or designs, I can do a separate post about it. Please let me know :))
