To Fall in love with yourself is the first secret to happiness ~ Robert Morley

I can’t believe we are half way through February! This year we didn’t have plans for Valentine’s day other than just chilling at home; I did want to share this glam yet effortless winter look that is perfect for Valentine’s day or any other special occasion. I basically used most of the items from my closet – Black top, jeans and blush pink pumps.

Why I have been away // OOTD

Happy New Year everyone!!

I hope you all had a great time with family and friends. I sure did! I have been away from social media for about a month now and haven’t posted a blog in a while. After taking a break for sometime and reflecting on the past year, I decided to come back and start blogging again.

I love blogging when it’s stress-free but over the past few months, it became overwhelming for me. I was trying to catch up with established bloggers or new bloggers who were growing very fast. I couldn’t move up the ladder as quickly as others because it involved more than just time, commitment, and money for me. I made a lot of great memories in the past two months, traveled places and I unplugged for most of the time. I do have a few travel stories to share with you all in the next few weeks. For today I just wanted to sit with you and share my first post of the year.

Diwali Edition 2017

May your life brighten up like the diyas in the Diwali celebration and keep all darkness away from your life.

Diwali brings so much happiness into our lives- we dress up, spend time with family, celebrate and fill the house with colors and lights. With regards to Diwali fashion, it’s a custom to buy new clothes and since the time I have moved to the US, it’s very hard to find good Indian clothes. One of my issues with shopping for Indian wear here is less or no customization. Mostly, it’s like ‘one size fits all’ clothes which can be altered and sometimes the outfits lose their shape with too much alteration.

Fall inspired outfits

Autumn shows how beautiful it is to let things go!

Welcome to my first fall lookbook of the season.

Weather is always unpredictable in the New England area to plan ahead. We went to Vermont this past weekend and even though we booked this trip in advance, we couldn’t really plan anything at all. Before packing for the trip, I looked at the weather and it predicted rainy and foggy day on Saturday and Sunday was showing cloudy and sunny with high temps. Travel Tip – Always check the weather before you start packing.

Day 1 – I wore this beautiful High-Low Blue dress to the Mansion to complement the magnificent beauty of it. The dress is from Zaful and is under $30. The material is not Chiffon as described but polyester so the quality is average. The color is really gorgeous and the dress is exactly how it looks in the picture.

Vintage Florals

Life Begins when you’re at the end of your comfort zone!

It has been a while since I wore a color coordinated outfit and I absolutely love how it turned out. I wore this outfit for brunch with my friends. I wanted to be comfortable and also, feel classy. The crop top is from Primark and I have worn it a few times before. The fabric quality is average.

One thing about Vintage Fashion – it always comes back with a bang. We have seen velvet, gingham and big floral prints emerge again as current design trends. Since I love vintage prints I got this skirt tailor-made. I bought this fabric from the local market in my hometown – Jalandhar (Punjab), India. The fabric is really thick and is not flowy. If you’re into vintage fashion with a modern twist, check out ‘Chicwish’. They have an amazing collection of vintage dresses & skirts, especially in floral and bold prints. Also, Etsy is another platform to look for vintage fabrics/outfits. I have linked down a few of my favorites from Chicwish in the similar prints as my skirt.

Must Have Skirt of the Season

When in doubt, wear pleated!

Personally, I love wearing skirts but I find them the hardest clothing piece to style. There are so many designs that cater to all the styles and sizes. I always look for the trendiest skirts of the season and I couldn’t miss this one in particular. If you want to experiment, it has to be a skirt with ‘pleats’. If you have a wedding to attend, you can choose shades like blush pink or mint green and if you have a party to go out to at night, wear metallic pleats – This skirt is here to serve the purpose.

Road Tripping to Cape Cod

The rising tides lift up all the boats ~ John F Kennedy

I have been wanting to go for a mini Vacation/Staycation at the Cape Cod but the sun has been hiding under the clouds. Even though last Saturday was cloudy and rainy, my husband and I decided to take a road trip to the Cape Cod.

Cape Cod, a hook-shaped peninsula of the U.S. state of Massachusetts, is a popular summertime destination. It’s the site of quaint villages, seafood shacks, lighthouses, ponds and bay and ocean beaches.

It turned out to be pretty great; it was a 2- hour drive from Boston. We directly went to Race Point beach and walked on the beach for 4 miles to the Race Point Light house and back. It was a long, tiring but a beautiful walk on the beach. We spotted a few Sea lions as well and enjoyed the cool breeze. We didn’t go in the water because it was cold that day and the water was freezing. Afterward, we went to Commercial Street to have seafood at a shack; the food was so fresh and delicious. Commercial Street was very fun and different; full of art galleries, souvenirs, gelato, and boutique shops. We strolled around for a while before we headed back to Boston. I would definitely go back to the Cape to explore the other towns on a sunny day. There are so many cute cottages and vacation homes to stay at.

About the look, I wanted to be comfortable for a day trip and yet dress appropriate for an island/beach day. I wore Bardot swing dress from Shein, it was very flowy and light. I love the style and fit of it. Expecting long walks, I wore my converse shoes with the dress. I also carried my denim jacket because the weather was in the 60’s that day. My Denim choker is from Charming Charlie.
